Why Work Based Learning?

The Inspire WBL platform was created to help school administrators better manage, promote, and connect students to local employers in career pathways that align with the students’ future career goals; while providing the student a platform to develop a portfolio of work and promote their knowledge, skills, and employability.

Students

Through work based learning can develop essential employability skills and build a positive work history. It can also help them build a network of professionals and peers with common interests and career goals that can help them connect the dots between curriculum and application in the workplace. Work based learning can also help students explore a variety of different career options at a younger age to find which career pathways align with their skills and interests.

Educators

Educators can help connect their curriculum to real world application through work based learning opportunities for students. Students can then have a purposeful educational experience and see the relevance behind in class curriculum. Work based learning can also lead to increased enrollment, increased attendance, and increased student achievement. Also, providing work based learning to students can provide opportunities for more individualized instruction and reach learners in different ways.

Employers

Employers can also benefit from work basked learning, too. Companies have the opportunity to shape the next generation of skilled workers from a young age and can engage with their local education system in a meaningful and impactful way. Providing work based learning opportunities for students can also help build a positive culture in the workplace by empowering employees to provide guidance to students in the workplace and in the classroom. It can also increase community awareness of your company or organization when students, parents, educators, and employees see your commitment to training students and giving back to the education community.
